While the administration has, for now, held back from carrying out the demolition, community members say religious sites should be excluded from the road-widening exercise. Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said the community was protesting in a “Gandhian way”, adding the protest was also a reflection of concerns he had raised in Parliament over the Waqf Amendment law.
